DABL News
Please read my forum post about upcoming changes to the 2007 Duluth Area Bass League. Most are tentative changes, but will likely happen. One big thing I want to point out is that DABL will go to an invite only league. So teams from the past year have first dibs on spots for the following year. Those teams can invite new teams for the following year as well. Then if the league is still not full, DABL will do a first-come, first-serve basis for any interested teams. Teams from 2006 are the members for the club, we all run it and we all make the rules and I'm listening to the teams. READ MY POST HERE! Have a great winter!

Well the weather was nice, but the fishing slower than it has been on the St. Louis River. But the warm water fish were on a bite. We had a lot of quality smallmouth bass and pike tonight, just not many limits and not many other fish. But someone always gets into the fish and scores high.
Team Sarcastic pulled off another big win just to finish in style. They had 161 points with a four species with northern pike, smallmouth bass, perch and rock bass. Great job again, guys..
Second place went to the Old Farts Team with 102 pts, 7 fish and 3 species, including a big 33 inch northern pike and a 19.5 inch smallmouth bass. Very nice fish. Third place went to Team TGIF with a nice four species bag of Smallmouth Bass, Northern Pike, Walleye and perch for 98 points.
To show how tough things are getting in this talented group, look at the points scored to finish the top 6: 97, 96, and 94 points. That's five teams within 8 points. You can't get much closer than that.
Great fishing.

MMTS had plenty of volunteers Friday, August 18th to help take the Girl Power Group from the YWCA out fishing. We had two boats taking small groups on the water, while others helped on the shore. EVERY girl caught fish and had a lot of fun.
We had one to two big fish per person and a couple nice bass, including one largemouth bass measuring 19.25 inches. Thanks to all that helped make this happen. I am sure we made memories that won't be forgotten. That's a great thing.
First I want to thank those that came out and volunteered. This included Steve Ondrus, Aaron Hansen, Ed Forrestal, Ouitdee Carson, and my son Jonathan. They did a great job. Thanks Ed for bringing your boat. Our boats made some memories I think they will be talking about for a while.
Thanks again for fishing rods and reels and helping prepare them. And Thanks again to Marine General for the tackle and Fisherman's Corner for the bait. Also Thanks to the Minnesota DNR MinnAqua coordinator, Sarah for the booklets, handouts and suggestions.

Thanks to all that helped make this happen. Thanks for donating and loaning fishing rods and reels and helping prepare them. This group included Ivan, Ed F., Matt P., Pat Cooke, Ouitdee and my son Jonathan. We ended up with just enough fishing rods and reels for this group.
Thanks to Marine General for the tackle and Fisherman's Corner for the bait. Also Thanks to the Minnesota DNR MinnAqua coordinator, Sarah for the booklets, handouts and suggestions.
Special Thanks to my son Jonathan and Ouitdee, the FlyMaster for showing and helping us share some time fishing the kids. And Thanks to the YWCA staff for giving us this opportunity.
It is a good feeling sharing our passion for fishing with a new generation and seeing the smiles and excitement.

Please be sure to help find fishing rods and reels and/or come out to help us share our love for fishing with the Grant Summer School Program and the Girl Power groups from the YWCA this Thursday and Friday at Chub Lake. Bring your own kids too. I am.
If you can help please call Doug at 390-9973 and let him know how you can help us teach kids about our great sport of fishing.

Well the weather was a bit windy but nice, but the fishing slower than it has been on Chub Lake for many years.
Team Patience pulled off another big win and keep getting better. They had four species with a limit of northern pike, plus largemouth bass, bluegill and a rock bass. Great job guys..
Second place went to the BHP Team with 111 pts, 12 fish and 3 species, including a big 30 inch northern pike and a limit of bluegills. Third place went to the Proven Presentations Team with a great five species bag.
Prefishing showed a lot of fish biting, but tonight was a tough bite and the teams caught fish in several main patterns from trolling to crappie jigs. But the fish were nothing like they were during prefish. It was great to see some teams adjust and pull off great catches even with the weeds having been treated with chemicals leaving lots of weeds on shorelines and the water cloudly.
Great fishing.

MMTS Rules
Just a reminder that we will be starting a little earlier, at 5:00pm and end at 8:30pm for our last two nights. That's due to the shorter days and we want some daylight when scoring our fish. So please pass the word along and reminder anyone else you talk to.

Well the weather was beautiful, but the fishing slower than it has been.
Once again our winning team was the current points leaders, Pat and Ross of Team Sarcastic with 153 points. They had three species bag with two limits of northern pike and rock bass, plus a couple smallmouth bass.
Second place went to Team TGIF with 150 pts and 4 species, including a limit of nice smallmouth including 18 and 19 inch hogs. Third place went to the team of Don and Ron of Frustrated Inc. with another four species bag.
The smallmouth bass and pike are still biting but moving locations frequently with the winds and weather. Team Frustrated's boat had issues on the way in, luckily Team Patience was right behind them and stopped to lend a hand. We do hope that all is well with the motor and Thanks.. to Steve and Dan for helping out once again. They always set a high standard for sportsmanship and I am sure Don and Ron would do the same for anyone also.
I'll say it again.. This is a great group of anglers and talented also.
